Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
